ABSTRACT

History 104–105–106 is designed to be a year-long survey course of world history. The nature of a world history survey course is such that we can study only major historical events in a global context. This is not an attempt to present human history as a whole but rather to identify major civilizations, illustrate the parallel processes and contacts that define the principal time periods of world history, and compare and assess these civilizations within an increasingly interdependent context.
