ABSTRACT
Charles Hart begins and ends his world history classes with a focus on research. He challenges his students to begin a lifelong search to find evidence to test their ideas. To give students a notion of how the present is shaped by the past, he challenges them to find the sources of traditional twenti-eth-century rivalries, to debate turning points in history, or to find historical examples that illustrate axioms about human behavior.
