ABSTRACT

Students did not just study textbooks. During their lime in the college they also acted as doctors for the other government departments and for the army. In this way they gained experience in treating many different patients and conditions. On top of their exams they also had to keep very detailed records of all the people they treated and any student who did not cure at least half of his patients was expelled from the college. The students took tests every month with a full examination at the end of the year. Every two years they had a chance to move up a grade. At the top grade, before graduating, students were marked not just on their medical knowledge but also on whether they had behaved well over the previous years.
