ABSTRACT
The equal-results model of social regulation, when applied to civil rights policy, has clashed with the vision of a color-blind Constitution. As a consequence, American society is polarized,
with both blocs-the supporters of equal individual opportunity and of equal group resultsclaiming moral grievance and social injustice.
