ABSTRACT

Once Tadpole was gone, Master Yun stretched out comfortably on his fancy mat, propping his head up on a wooden headrest. Master Yun was curious who would show up first; it turned out to be Taebok. Taebok's appearance and deportment were rather pathetic for a man holding the position of a millionaire's manager, private secretary, and clerk. Taebok had merely tagged along with a bailiff who had gone to execute a provisional attachment of the property of one of Master Yun's delinquent debtors. What Master Yun had in mind was killing two birds with one stone: first, he had the debtor's property under the provisional attachment, so the loan was secure. And second, once the notice period was up and the rice was auctioned off, he would buy it at a cheap price through inside channels, thus enhancing his profit beyond the original interest on the loan.
