ABSTRACT
Jason now gathered together a crew of heroes, many of whom also had been educated by Chiron.
They built a swift ship, called the Argo (AR-go), and the sailors were called the Argonauts (AR-go-
noughts). They had many exciting adventures on the way to Colchis, but eventually they arrived
at the court of King Aeetes. At first the king received them in a friendly manner, but he became
furious when he discovered that the Argonauts intended to seize the Golden Fleece. He therefore
set Jason various tasks that he hoped would prove to be impossible.
