ABSTRACT
Greek historian renowned for his extensive accounts of the Greek and Persian wars. Although Herodotus was not the first to record events of the ancient world, the broad scope of his major work, The Histories, and his concern for accuracy and detail, separated him from earlier writers. Despite criticism of the reliability of some of Herodotus’ stories and sources, modern scholars still consider him the leading authority on the events of his day.
