ABSTRACT

The third category of action for leaders is organization-oriented behaviors, which includes scanning the environment, strategic planning, articulating the mission and vision of the organization, networking and partnering, performing general management functions such as human resource management and budgeting, decision making, and managing organizational change. The emphasis of these competencies shifts to an external perspective and a systems approach (i.e., “the big picture”), and more attention is paid to organizational culture and organizational change (and crisis).
