ABSTRACT

Without an explicit focus on managing information as a product, as the information quality literature recommends, universities will not provide information systems and management majors with the necessary learning opportunities that culminate in the desired information-quality skills. This chapter first examines current information systems and management curriculum models and accreditation standards to highlight current practice and to make explicit suggestions for the future. It then describes two educational experiments designed to include more information-quality concepts in management and information systems curricula. These examples illustrate successful initiatives of faculty in developing curriculum in support of information-quality concepts for information systems majors and for the core curriculum required for all management majors.
