ABSTRACT
A fully developed modem Ukrainian national historiography emerged at the beginning of the twentieth century.! Its appearance was one of the results of the nineteenth-century Ukrainian cultural and national awakening. The stages of development of a Ukrainian national historiography, therefore, parallel and are very much a part of the evolution of a modem Ukrainian identity.
