ABSTRACT

This chapter proposes that businesses that prioritize an ethics environment are more likely to invest in practices that promote the well-being of employees. Virtuous organization as a productive and profitable business over time addresses its stated values for workers, customers, and products. The ethics environment, leaders and managers may be more open to influence from employees, who are able to exert influence on the direction of work without negative consequences from management. The model of positive organizations with ethics environments, it is anticipated that effective leaders will create sustainable businesses by promoting and sustaining their employees' well-being. Organizations that are productive, profitable, and able to retain employees are likely to sustain, if not promote, employees' well-being and they, in turn, also influence the organizational atmosphere. Such organizations will also attend to, via their managers or leaders, the desirable behaviors that are revealed in the firm.
