ABSTRACT
The story of women and Westward expan-sion is one of conquest, settlement, re-silience and resistance. Native Americans, African Americans, Hispanics, Asians, European immigrants and native-born white women are all part of that story. Some already lived in the West, some moved willingly, and others were forced Westward.
