ABSTRACT
BOSNIAN COMMUNITIES Bosnians claim the homeland of BosniaHerzegovina in the former Yugoslavia in southeastern Europe, surrounded by Croatia, Serbia, and Montenegro. While some trace ancestry from forefathers who arrived in America during the nineteenth century, the greater mass arrived in the last decade of the twentieth century. Given
the cultural complexities of their homeland, Bosnians have developed a distinctive folklife in the United States.
