ABSTRACT
DANCE, LITURGICAL Liturgical dance refers to dance found in a holy service, rite, or ritual of any belief system. Once common in Catholic religious practices of the fifteenth century, dance in church drew strong criticism from Protestant religious leaders, and the Catholic Church responded between 1545 and 1563 at the Council of Trent with admonishments against dancing.
