ABSTRACT

Pharaoh Khufu (2589–2566 b.c.e.), builder of the Great Pyramid of Giza, was rich and powerful. He wanted to know the secret of Thoth’s house so he could build himself a funeral tomb worthy of the gods. One day his son Hordedef told him of an ancient magician called Djedi, who could make dead things live again. Khufu was intrigued and told his son to bring the magician to him.
