ABSTRACT
Hakluyt spent his adult life compiling and publishing accounts from English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch explorers, such as John Cabot, Giovanni da Verrazano, and Jean Ribaut. He made a comfortable living from the publication of his works, the patronage of wealthy clients, and several positions within the Church of England.
