ABSTRACT

Associat ion of the Sons of Liber t y in New York (December 15, 1773) The Sons of Liberty was a network of secret associations established throughout the American colonies in November 1765 to oppose the Stamp Act and subsequent actions by the British Parliament. Although the New York Sons promise in the following document to “use all lawful endeavours” to oppose British abuses, the association frequently resorted to extralegal measures as well. Notable also in this document is the series of resolutions regarding the treatment of colonials who oppose the Sons’ cause.
