ABSTRACT

The synthesis of civic service research has been fruitful for identifying both potential cause-effect relationships and gaps in the research. Now that we have explored what the research has to say about civic service, we can consider the ways in which the findings can be used on a larger scale. This chapter examines the policy implications of the research synthesis for civic service. What are the implications for public policy? Although the answer to this question begins with the results of the research synthesis, it also is necessary to draw on other sources for interpretive and contextual information.
