ABSTRACT
The Fifth Generation (diwudai) leadership is tipped to begin running China from the early 201Os. It will succet!d the Fourth Generation headed by cadres such as Vice President Hu Jintao and Vice Premier Wen Jiabao. The tenure of the disidai (Fourth Generation) is expected to stretch from the Sixteenth Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Congress scheduled for late 2002 to the Eighteenth Party Congress, to be held in 2012.
