ABSTRACT

Cultural Revolution has a two-thousand-year history in China. The belief shared by many of the aspiring Studs Terkels is that one records the experiences of ordinary people because the essential reality of life is only found in the reality of the common grassroots. The author received a letter from Wang Li-once a member of the Central Cultural Revolution Group-to the leading members of the Politburo, in which Wang is asking to be readmitted to the Party. As a result, absurdities have sometimes acquired an aura of mystique. To prevent absurdities from turning into disasters is a serious task. The author looks into this matter together with Comrade Xie Fuzhi, and first the author thought of testing it. Honestly, no matter what emotions he exhibited at that time, here he must admit his basic emotional state.
