ABSTRACT

In this chapter people step back from the different facets of teaching to consider the best techniques for managing the educational technology environment as a whole. They start by looking at best practices for teaching in computing environments. Then look at tools that can help them manage their classes and curriculum, such as email, course-management systems, and class Web sites. The following are ten trends that they see developing in educational technology in the years ahead: Parting Thoughts. The most important message they has for their fellow teachers is that all this is not about the technology; it is about great teaching. Teachers are constantly communicating information to their students. They can write notes on the board, makes announcements in class, or pass out handouts to keep students current on their expectations. But students space out in class, lose their class folders, and find other ingenious ways to not get their message.
