ABSTRACT

Online homework can also enable persistent discussion outside the classroom and more collaboration among students after the school bell. There are some exciting opportunities here, but before people can delve into the possibilities of online homework. They need to think seriously about issues of equity and access. It simply is not fair to assign online homework if students have radically different access to the Internet. As the Internet becomes a fixture in American homes, the current problems with online equity and access hopefully will fade away. They will enter a new era where the possibilities of homework assignments are not limited by the books their ordered at the beginning of the year. Technology allows students to visualize the relationship graphically and numerically, and the connections that students makes between the forms leads to the development of analytical skills. Another technology with significant penetration in K-12 populations is the iPod.
