I TOOK MY INJECTIONS -vaccinesandsuch-and then I was instructed to report to Fort Totten on Long Island and wait for Air Transport. At Fort Totten, I was given a bunk in a barracks and told to remain there until transport was available. After three nights in Totten, I talked the CO into a deal: I would go home, and when my transport turned up, someone in the office would call me. Whereupon I returned to New York, arriving in time for breakfast, spent two hours with Bette and my little daughter, and then received a call to get back to Totten.
