ABSTRACT
In this chapter, I shall introduce a new semantics for deontic logic. 1 My method of presentation will be informal. I shall begin with the basic intuitions that underlie the new semantics. I shall look next at a series of problems with those basic intuitions. In response to those problems, I shall expand, explain, and repair the intuitions. The result is a new deontic semantics, which I shall present as a block. Then I shall give a preliminary justification of the new semantics.
