ABSTRACT

Mongolian Americans hail from one of the most isolated, rural, and traditional countries in the world, and form one of the tiniest of Asian American communities. Largely closed off from emigration to America by their geography and a Soviet-dominated Communist government until the early 1990s, Mongolians have trickled into the United States in the years since. Because of the small size of the community, Mongolians have been forced to settle in areas where few other Mongolians live. Still, most are well educated and have achieved relative economic prosperity.
