ABSTRACT
The feature fi lms, documentaries, and experimental works contained in this fi lmography correspond to the broadest possible defi nition of what this encyclopedia identifi es as countercultural. In addition to providing information on each of the fi lms included in the encyclopedia’s main text, the list includes movies relevant to entries that do not explicitly mention motion pictures. Selections include mainstream feature fi lms, tele vi sion documentaries, experimental short fi lms, art fi lms, international coproductions (most of which treat American themes or were made in part with American funding), agitprop documentaries, historically censored works, and a number of cult classics. Many of the works depict or comment on movements, people, ideas, or historical references relevant to multiple entries in American Countercultures.
