ABSTRACT

61There once was a large field. Not one tree or blade of grass was growing on it. Beyond the field there was a mountain range. There were many mountains stretching far into the distance as far as the eye could see. On this grassless field and in these treeless mountains where no animals could survive, there lived not so much as one single mouse or insect. From time to time, the wind would come down from the sky to blow up a dust cloud, playfully running this way and that. But that was all. When night fell, the moon quietly cast its beams from behind the jagged stones of the bare mountains, gazing down on this world. Perhaps the moon was thinking, "What a desolate place, frightfully desolate."
