ABSTRACT

The Greeks wanted to understand how the world worked, so it is not surprising that they

created the study of philosophy. Philosophy literally means “the love of wisdom” and is the

art of thinking about all aspects of life. Sometimes this thinking can take the form of moral

philosophy, where matters of ethics (or right and wrong) are discussed. This could mean

asking difficult questions such as “What is justice?” or “What is the truth?” Another branch

of philosophy is logic, or the use of pure reasoning. A third branch is what today we call

science, or the study of the physical world and the creatures in it.
