ABSTRACT

Over the centuries, ceramic production improved and changed as technology introduced new techniques and styles. It gradually became possible to fire pots at higher temperatures. During the Han Dynasty (206 B.C.E.-220 c.E.) there were several advances, including the use of the potter's wheel and crushed-lead and ash-baked glaze. The technology continued to improve. By the Tang Dynasty (618-907 c.E.) ceramics became more extravagant and highly prized.
