ABSTRACT
Recon Software is the brainchild of two graduate students at the University of California at Berkeley. Their initial work involved optimizing production systems through the use of neural network software. However, they discovered that they could use this same tool to build an ever-upgraded firewall providing a defense against computer viruses. They quickly patented the neural network software and named it Recon. The name is short for reconnaissance.
