ABSTRACT

Pinnacle Foods is an aggregator of venerable old brands that are in need of restaging. One of the recently acquired brands in its stable of products was Chiffon margarine. Chiffon had great success in the 1970s and 1980s as one of the brand leaders when butter surrendered to margarine as the spread of choice. During this time, Chiffon had some award-winning advertising with “Mother Nature” as the spokesperson for the brand. In the television commercial executions, “Mother Nature” would proclaim Chiffon was so fresh and natural that “It isn’t nice to fool Mother Nature.”
