ABSTRACT
There are so many reasons why children at primary level can gain great satisfaction from playing with language and creating simple poems. The list below shows some of these:
Poems can use small chunks of language.
There is a strong personal element.
Nothing is right or wrong.
Poems are fun to write.
They can be cross-curricular.
All children can be involved.
Grammatical structures can be practised.
Children already write poems in English.
