ABSTRACT
It has long been important to ensure good transition in terms of language progression between primary schools teaching a language and secondary schools. With the teaching of a new language having become statutory at key stage 2 in September 2014 (primary national curriculum for languages [DfE, 2013]), all primary and secondary schools need to plan for careful transition between the key stages.
