ABSTRACT
With few exceptions, games are universally enjoyed. They are certainly very much part of the learning experience in the primary classroom and effective for the following reasons:
their repetitive nature is excellent for consolidating vocabulary;
games often involve an element of chance, taking the pressure off an individual child to perform;
they give scope for working individually, in pairs, in a small group or as a class;
games give children the chance to try out the target language;
and, last but not least, they are fun!
