The pricing council has become a well-accepted organizational tool that provides a space for thorough review of all pricing activities. It is not only an organization's strategic competitive business weapon but also a hidden platform for advancement for pricing teams. The goal is to create a council design and an experience that is so unique and invisible that it cannot be imitated by competitors. Then the pricing council becomes a place to build competitive advantage, help the organization make better pricing decisions, and build long-term performance. It is an excellent platform for gaining visibility and credibility with sales leadership. The role of the top leader sitting on the council is critical to opening the dialogue and ensuring that people have a chance to vent, share, and give constructive feedback. The pricing council should be a place of creative exploration and experimentation. Pricing innovations should be proposed to further the overall pricing strategy and to match the evolving marketing strategy.
