ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the interview conducted among the Stephan M. Liozu and pricing experts: Bill McGill and Mary McGill. According to Bill McGill, Retail is undergoing disruption right now, and its forcing dramatic changes in pricing methods and technologies. In the area of services, he thinks a lot of products are just being offered in different ways from how they used to be offered. Many firms do not completely understand what it means to get more sophisticated about pricing. According to Mary McGill, the bricks-and-mortar stores can no longer have only a local or regional pricing strategy; they need to think globally. That's pushing retailers to utilize their data more effectively in order to price better. As a result, retail is a big area of growth for the pricing profession. Good pricing professionals are really exceptional business athletes, and it is enjoyable to work in this space. One thing every pricing professional needs is quantitative skills.
