ABSTRACT

Hydropower potential and markets Nepal has a theoretical potential of 83,000 MW of hydropower (Water Resources Strategy 2002), but a review of this number is long overdue. According to Sharma (1997), the technically feasible hydropower potential in Nepal is about 42,000 MW, with Karnali, SaptaKoshi and Gandaki Basins holding around 24,000, 10,800, and 5,270 MW respectively.
