ABSTRACT

Education is a concept which has many meanings and is in many ways very ambiguous; peace is similarly ambiguous. The chapter outlines the framework and presuppositions which lies behind peace education and the categorisation of various attitudes towards it rather than to lay down a peace education programme as such. There are five disciplines appears under the heading of peace education. They are Peace Research, Strategy, Conflict Analysis, War Studies and International Relations. In a very peaceful society, in the sense that there is no violence present in its overt form, there can be injustice in the distribution of both political and economic resources. Economics lacks words like 'peace research' or 'strategy' to differentiate between the policy-orientated and the descriptive; which may or may not be a good thing. In a very peaceful society, in the sense that there is no violence present in its overt form, there can be injustice in the distribution of both political and economic resources.
