Literacy theorists have long argued over the best ways to teach reading and writing, and in many cases, have split into highly combative camps.
The problem is, we did not evolve to read and write. Print has only been around for between 5,000 and 6,000 years. This means that there is no one area of the brain specifically evolved for literacy.
