ABSTRACT

It is acknowledged that literature is the carrier of culture and also the major means of dissemination. Literature, like flowers, so to speak, should be rooted in and cultivated from the soil of social culture. In other words, it is the soil of social culture that has borne literature as the fruit of human civilization. Generally speaking, literary development has undergone an evolution both from automatic "pre-literature" to conscious literature and from simple to complex. Accordingly, literary concepts and theories have also evolved to be more scientific and sophisticated. In ancient time, ideology was so chaotic that there was no clear distinction of various consciousnesses among politics, economy, religion, philosophy, history and aesthetics. Literary genres have also gone through a long process of development. In terms of Chinese literary writing, it is natural that oral literature by the ancestors precedes written literature.
