Pages 10

This chapter analyzes the notion of interdisciplinary collaboration, including collaboration between academics and agencies, with an emphasis on how such collaborations are critical to the development of innovative and sustainable health interventions. It will focus on the need for comprehensive health interventions that take into account the intersecting needs of individuals and their communities, which are frequently beyond the sole expertise of healthcare providers. Examples of workable collaborations based on the author’s own research and service experiences particularly in rural Malawian communities, are provided. This final chapter also discusses the attributes of a culturally safe leader and a culturally safe team player in contributing to the betterment in health of individuals and communities living on the margins of society.
