ABSTRACT

This chapter provides students, as well as more experienced individuals, with what they need to enter the international market. It expresses that globalization causes a need to know more about international culture. Globalization is causing some radical rethinking in terms of ethics. Part of the reason the global market is important is that China has supplanted Japan as the second largest film market after the United States and many believe that China will eventually be number one. Doing business in China has become a goal of American content creators, increasing the importance of globalization. Anne Sweeney and the other executives found that universal themes can achieve the necessary global reach. Media ethics thus figure in any conversation about globalization whether or not people personally agree with the policies of the international market. Pakistan and Cambodia may be small markets, but China is a market that cannot be ignored by those individuals wishing to do business on a global scale.
