ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on safety issues. There are activities to make children aware of safety in the home and where to play safely out of doors, and suggestions for an assembly about how to stay safe in the street. Other activities suggest how to act in emergencies, and deal with firework safety, water safety and how to stay safe online. The chapter helps to understand the reasons behind safety rules, what are risky behaviours online and what the consequences and what are facts and myths about sex. It shows that child abuse may take several forms - physical, sexual, emotional and what types of behaviour are sexual harassment. The chapter also shows key facts about sexual abuse and to dispel some myths about sexual abuse and different levels of risk in situations that may occur when young people are out and about. The chapter emphasises the dangers of fireworks and considers the best ways to stay safe in the street.
