ABSTRACT

This chapter explains about activities to make children aware of what human rights are, to consider what rights children and parents have, to discuss violations of human rights and to comment on current human rights issues, including a debate on whether the death penalty should be introduced for convicted terrorists. The chapter helps to understand what rights children have by brainstorming children's rights and what are human rights. It shares views on issues concerning human rights and discusses a number of situations involving human rights issues. The chapter explains about current human rights issues and considers the ages at which children are allowed by law to do things. Encourage the children to bring in copies of old newspapers and magazines and to look through them to find reports and stories that deal with human rights issues. The chapter explores what life is like for people with disabilities and debate the issue of whether the death penalty should be reintroduced.
