ABSTRACT

This paper rst briey overviews the prevailing psychological paradigm, that of psychology conceived as a pre-Heisenberg natural science. Specically, the interrelations of its assumptions, methods, and content are pointed out. Then some of its general negative social consequences are summarized, followed by specic mention of its consequences for conceptions of intelligence. The assumptions, methods, and content of a specically human science paradigm are then presented. This section is followed by a human science discussion of the meaning of intelligence. The paper closes with a few remarks about implementation of a human science approach to intelligence.
