ABSTRACT
The Black body is the object of both the physical power of white batons and the discursive power of white knowledge. The toxicologist found a potentially lethal level of cocaine in the body, but the autopsy omitted any mention of the effects of a beating upon a drugged body. The power-bloc interests that are promoted by repressing illegal speech do not confine their operations to the regulatory realm of the FCC, the courts and the legislature. Larger Black communities can support stations that can afford more expensive equipment and that can set up a formal broadcasting organization, and thus meet the FCC regulations. The story of Eleanor Bumpurs has become emblematic among African Americans of contemporary race relations and the way the police embody them in law enforcement. The Cress Theory proposes that human life began in Africa and that the original humans were Black.
