ABSTRACT

The journey can be applied to any early years setting where a team of staff work together to seek to improve the experiences. In a newly established phase two Children's Centre; staffs were recruited from a range of backgrounds including Early Years and Childcare, Family Support, Playwork and Health. With the core offer requiring the author's to support parenting the Local Authority was keen to ensure a county-wide approach to parenting based on the Solihull Parenting Approach. Effective practice in the early years requires committed, enthusiastic and reflective practitioners. An enabling environment allows babies and young children time to explore just as adults. Supervision was also available for Peer Supporters. From a management perspective, an essential element in developing our parenting groups was to ensure that protected time for practitioner reflection. Laevers' involvement tools are assimilated, both observing and involving children, as well as students and staff teams, will always be part of a toolbox' for reflecting upon and evaluating provision.
