ABSTRACT
Most supervisors are highly committed to providing effective supervision and will therefore ask themselves: How can I best help my supervisees to help their patients? This chapter looks at empirical research studies to answer this question. It reviews research about the supervisory relationship and practice, specifi c supervisor behaviours and the content of supervision sessions, as well as evidence regarding the impact of supervision on client outcomes.
