The Philippine economy during the Japanese occupation, 1941–1945

This chapter’s main concern is to provide a working estimate of the aggregate economic damage on the Philippine economy of the Japanese occupation during World War II. Though economic measurement is the main focus, the chapter also summarizes the outline of events that featured the efforts of the military occupation to establish political and economic hegemony and the response of the conquered nation to these efforts.2
