ABSTRACT

Crime analysis is data. Without data, crime analysis is not possible. The quality of crime analysis, and what analyses can be conducted, depends on data. This chapter discusses data needed and used in crime analysis. These include agency data, UCR, NIBRS, NCVS and community data. It also discusses problems that can be addressed and analyses that can be undertaken with these data.
